Every calculator on this site shows its working. The rates, bands and thresholds each one uses are listed on the page along with the date they were last checked, and where a figure comes from case law, a statutory instrument or a published standard, it is named so you can go and read it. An estimate whose workings are hidden is just a number, and these tools deal in money, legal deadlines and decisions about people's homes.
None of them collect your details, and none of them pass anything to a contractor. If you want the reasoning rather than the number, there are guides on every part of this.
